Privacy Mode
Quick Definition
Privacy mode is an Aura feature that limits profile visibility — allowing couples to control who can see them on the platform, enabling browsing without being discovered, or restricting their profile to only verified or approved accounts.
What is Privacy Mode?
Privacy mode is a configurable visibility setting on Aura that gives couples granular control over who can discover and view their profile on the platform. The lifestyle community has legitimate, non-paranoid reasons to want this kind of control: accidental discovery by a colleague, neighbor, or family member is a real concern for couples who maintain discretion around their lifestyle participation.
Privacy mode options on Aura may include settings such as: only visible to verified couples, not discoverable in search or browse feeds (visible only when you initiate contact), visible only to accounts you've previously interacted with, or fully private with profile visible only on direct link.
For couples who are professionals in sensitive fields, who live in smaller communities, or who simply prefer to control their visibility carefully, privacy mode enables meaningful participation in the platform without unnecessary exposure. This is fundamentally different from hiding something shameful — it is exercising reasonable, adult control over private information about private choices.
Privacy mode also affects how the app presents itself on a device — notification text is deliberately generic, the app can be configured to not appear in standard app switching views, and no identifying information appears outside the app itself.
