Photo Access Request
Quick Definition
A photo access request is the mechanism on Aura through which couples can request — and grant or deny — access to private or restricted photos on another couple's profile.
What is Photo Access Request?
Photo access requests are a core feature of Aura's privacy architecture. Rather than defaulting all profile photos to public visibility — the model used by most social and dating platforms — Aura allows couples to maintain private photo galleries that are only visible to other couples they explicitly grant access to.
The mechanics are straightforward: a couple can mark specific photos or albums as private. Another couple who wants to see those photos sends a photo access request. The couple holding the private photos can review the requesting couple's profile and decide whether to grant access. If granted, the requesting couple can view the private photos; if denied, they cannot. Access can be revoked at any time.
This model is significant for the lifestyle community, which has strong and reasonable concerns about private photos ending up in unintended places. By building access control into the platform architecture rather than relying on users to exercise individual discretion, Aura creates a structural privacy guarantee — photos marked private can only be seen by couples the account holder has specifically authorized.
The access request flow also creates a natural social touchpoint: it's often the mechanism through which couples initiate a connection, with a photo access request functioning as a soft introduction that gives the receiving couple a chance to evaluate the requesting couple before any direct communication.
