Lifestyle Party
Quick Definition
A lifestyle party is a social or play event organized for and attended by lifestyle participants — ranging from intimate private house gatherings to large, organized venue events.
What is Lifestyle Party?
A lifestyle party is an event organized specifically for lifestyle participants — couples, singles (usually with specific criteria), and community members who share ENM or swinging orientations. Lifestyle parties span an enormous range of scale and format.
At one end: intimate private house parties organized by a couple or small group, attended by people they know and trust, with a casual social atmosphere that may or may not lead to play. At the other: large organized events at dedicated venues, resort takeovers with hundreds of attendees, or themed parties at lifestyle clubs.
Most lifestyle parties share certain characteristics regardless of scale: an explicit expectation of discretion (what happens at the party stays at the party), social norms around consent and mutual respect, an understanding that attendance is not a commitment to play, and a general atmosphere of acceptance and non-judgment.
Many lifestyle parties have specific attendance criteria: couples-only, or specific gender ratios, or membership requirements. These criteria exist to shape the social dynamic — too many single men relative to couples, for example, changes the atmosphere in ways most couples find unwelcoming.
The social experience of a well-run lifestyle party — regardless of whether any play occurs — is often described as uniquely comfortable and liberating: a space where adults can be honest about their sexuality without shame, surrounded by others operating on the same frequency.
