A closed quad is a relationship configuration involving four people — most commonly two existing couples — who have developed mutual romantic and/or sexual partnerships across all members and agreed to exclusivity within the group. In a full quad, all six possible dyadic relationships are active: both original couples plus the four cross-couple pairs.
Closed quads are more common in the lifestyle community than closed triads, because their origin story is more natural.
